A healthy pregnancy is like elite sports!

Being pregnant takes quite a bit out of your body. Actually, it’s like top sports.

It is a wonderful experience but it can also be very hard. A new person is growing inside your body and, of course, that is not nothing. So for an extended period of time, you need to make sure not only that you are healthy, but also your baby.

Healthy eating

Healthy eating is not a fixed concept. In fact, what exactly constitutes healthy eating varies from person to person and situation to situation. So when you are pregnant, a different definition of healthy applies than before that time. So it certainly doesn’t hurt to delve into that. Especially since you are responsible for the health of two people during your pregnancy. All the baby’s cells must be built from nutrients that come from your body. So you are responsible for your baby’s growth. And healthy growth of your baby is not as obvious as you may think now. After all, there is quite a bit involved.

Building Blocks

During pregnancy, you need extra of certain nutrients. Proteins, also known as amino acids, are especially important. Many women generally already get too little protein, so chances are that when you become pregnant, this deficiency will only increase. But sufficient minerals such as calcium and magnesium, zinc and vitamins are also important for building bones. Folic acid is a known one of these and prevents spina bifida. Essential fatty acids promote brain growth, among other things. So make sure you get plenty of nuts, seeds, fish oil and olive oil. But other vitamins such as B12, other B vitamins and vitamin D3 are also essential for you and your baby. Through optimal nutritional status, you can simply prevent most of the symptoms. And prevention is always better than eventual cure!

Deficit

A lack of proper nutrients can cause a variety of physical complaints. In fact, in your body, a baby always takes precedence. So all the nutrients that are there go to your baby. As a result, if there is a shortfall, you have to sit on your hands. But when nutrients run out even for your baby, it can have serious consequences for your baby’s growth. After all, not only will you build up more deficiencies yourself, but this also applies to your child. Serious abnormalities can then occur, but you yourself can also develop unpleasant symptoms such as thyroid problems, muscle cramps, depression, forgetfulness and so on.

Prevent complaints

According to many people, these are symptoms that simply come with pregnancy. Then you can think of forgetfulness, cramps, mood swings, pain, high blood pressure or gestational diabetes. But often all of these symptoms are the result of a deficiency in one or more nutrients or an improper or inadequate diet. So these are almost always easy to avoid, as long as you make sure you have a complete diet that suits you. Another benefit of healthy eating, is that recovery after childbirth will be a lot faster and it contributes to healthy breastfeeding. So basically, you can decide how much you want to help your body during your pregnancy. And did you know that crying babies are often the result of improper feeding without your thinking about it? Consider food intolerances to dairy and gluten, for example. These are then passed on to your baby through breastfeeding, which can cause him or her to develop intestinal cramps, making him or her restless or a cry baby. Powdered milk-based formula can also cause problems such as a crying baby and/or eczema.
