Beans are superfoods par excellence. You get a lot of energy from it. They are high in protein, fiber and slow carbohydrates. Actually, all the factors that fit into a responsible diet. In addition, beans are also financially attractive. After all, they are not expensive if you buy them in dried form. In addition, they have a long shelf life and you can vary them a lot in the kitchen. It is unfortunate that beans are actually used far too little today.

Advantages
Beans make you feel satiated longer. This is due to the high amount of fiber and protein that makes them stay in the body longer. They also provide good digestion. Furthermore, they keep blood sugar levels at a good level, reducing your need for sweet snacks. They are easy to season and you only need to add little fat. So it’s ideal if you want to get rid of excess weight or maintain it.

Beans and gas
Everyone knows what happens when you eat beans…. If you are not used to eating beans, they do indeed create a lot of gases in the digestive system. However, you can fix this somewhat. Eat small amounts of beans and do so before you are active. The more you exercise after eating beans, the more the gases will be broken up. Also, eat beans on a regular basis, then your body will get used to these gases and you will suffer less.

In store
You can buy beans in 2 varieties. In dried form that you must first soak for a long time and then cook. If you find that too much work, you can alternatively take beans or jarred lentils (just make sure no sugar is added!). Do not choose the canned variety because of the often present inner plastic that contain BPA and are bad for your hormones! From pot, they are already soaked and cooked and thus almost ready, and therefore quick to use. Dry beans should first be soaked in water for at least 8 hours (preferably overnight). You can then gently boil the soaked beans in a pan (they should be completely submerged in water). This takes from 1 to 4 hours, depending on which type of beans. Then the beans should be seasoned. You can add them to a soup, stir-fry vegetables, a rice dish,…

Try to eat beans at least twice a week. That way your body gets used to it, and you’ll find that it gives you more energy.
